IntelliSAW receives FCC certification for wireless, passive critical asset monitoring systems for the electrical power grid.

Andover, MA – June 15, 2015 – IntelliSAW, a developer of innovative real-time monitoring solutions for critical assets in electrical power applications, is pleased to announce that it has received certification for its Smart Grid monitoring systems from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Through the use of advanced Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensor technology, IntelliSAW’s Critical Asset Monitoring (CAM) platform provides the optimal solution for wireless, passive thermal monitoring of electrical power grid critical assets. The advantages of the IntelliSAW wireless temperature sensors include:

  • Passive operation: No power source is required, resulting in little to no maintenance for the lifespan of the asset.
  • Highest safety: Sensors can be mounted to the necessary measurement points (circuit breakers, bus bars, and cable connections) and maintain the original asset safety specification(s).
  • Robustness: Rugged design ensuring long life & survivability, while meeting EMC, IEC, and RF standards.

Tom Cunneen, CEO of IntelliSAW, commented: “We have made a significant investment in the development of our systems to ensure they meet all aspects of required robustness and requisite compliance standards associated with the electric power industry. Our products provide innovative and cost effective means of protecting critical assets used in the transmission & distribution of electric power. Achieving FCC compliance will serve to facilitate the growing adoption of the IntelliSAW solution at utilities, industrial concerns, and asset OEMs alike.”

The IntelliSAW CAM platform offers a comprehensive solution for continuous monitoring & trending of temperature, partial discharge and humidity, enabling predictive maintenance processes for critical assets used in the delivery of electric power. The FCC certification provides a further differentiator of the IntelliSAW system as the go-to provider of critical asset monitoring solutions.
